Reports to: Vice President of Communications and Digital Media
This position assists with the conceptual development, research, writing, editing, implementation and evaluation of ongoing communication pieces and campaigns specific to NCCF’s goals and objectives.
The Communications Officer works collaboratively to ensure that NCCF reaches key audiences and constituencies and builds awareness around NCCF’s mission and community impact, while strictly adhering to NCCF’s brand standards.
Responsibilities
- Create content for newsletters (print and electronic), including interviewing NCCF donors community leaders and nonprofit professionals
- Assist with assembling, organizing and formatting relevant data and information for publications
- Write Press Releases
- Assist with concept development and creation of the Annual Appeal and the Community Report
- Provide support, guidance and editing for fund-specific communication pieces (e.g., Woman and Girls Fund, Regional Early Childhood Initiative)
- Create announcements, Invitations, and advertisements
- Create content for Social Media: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram
- Create event promotion materials, including e-blasts and print flyers
- Develop website content
- Assist with NCCF’s crowdfunding program, Northwest Corner Gives
- Work with colleagues as directed by the VP of Communications and Digital Media with the design, editing, and preparation of manuals, handbooks, forms and instruction guides for external and internal use
- Proof publications and communications for brand consistency, accuracy, grammar and punctuation
- Responsibly fulfill additional duties as assigned
Competencies and Qualifications:
- Expertise in creative writing and storytelling
- Experience in design and layout
- Results-oriented with high attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative, work both independently and within groups
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Expertise in grammar, punctuation and proofreading
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in content management software
- Exceptional oral, and interpersonal skills
- Bachelors’ Degree in related field
- 4-6 years of experience preferred

Reports to: Vice President of Community Engagement
This position is primarily responsible for the facilitation and support of the Northwest CT Community Foundation (NCCF) Regional Early Childhood Alliance (RECA).
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and clerical support to RECA Executive and Leadership Team, subcommittees and workgroups
- Maintain relationships with local and regional early childhood partners and stakeholders, and regional and state early childhood and family alliances, collaboratives, networks and community members to advance the success of the RECA
- Cultivate, when appropriate, new RECA members to the network
- Assist in the development of strategies that strengthen the RECA
- Work with community partners to provide legislative advocacy support on behalf of the region’s early childhood agenda and priorities
- Assist with the design and facilitation of Requests for Proposals for local early childhood grants
- Assist with the administration of grant applications and evaluation protocols for funding related to early childhood issues and opportunities;
- Educate NCCF fund holders and donor-advisors on early childhood funding needs
- Assist in generating and procuring funding streams and funding opportunities that can be applied to local early childhood initiatives
- Research public and private funding opportunities, prepare applications to support the work of the RECA, monitor grant-award deliverables, and assist with post-grant reporting.
- Foster information and best-practice sharing among RECA members and community partners
- Provide communications staff with resources and updates to the RECA web site page
- Disseminate information about professional development, thought leadership and engagement opportunities to providers and parents in order to strengthen the knowledge, and capacity of early childhood resources and advocacy among local constituencies;
- Work with communications staff to maximize media opportunities
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

- Familiarity with Northwest Connecticut, including characteristics of communities and available resources
- Proficient in interviewing and communicating with a variety of individuals from different geographic areas and backgrounds

Salary: $28,000 - $33,000 commensurate with experience

Grants and Scholarship Officer
Reports to: Vice President of Community Engagement
This position has two primary responsibilities: managing all aspects of the grantmaking of the John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation (Wiederhold Foundation), a supporting organization of the Northwest CT Community Foundation (NCCF), and managing NCCF’s scholarship program.
Wiederhold Foundation Responsibilities:
• Under the guidance of Wiederhold Foundation Trustees and grant application guidelines, design eligibility and create request for proposals
• Design, disseminate, process and review grant applications for Wiederhold Foundation Trustee evaluation
• Provide counsel and assistance to Wiederhold Foundation grant applicants
• Communicate effectively with Wiederhold Foundation Chair and Board Trustees
• Schedule meeting announcements, conference calls and site visits, manage technology for Zoom meetings, disseminate meeting agendas, review meeting minutes, and maintain meeting records
• Prepare and enter grant information, awards, denials, grant agreements, into Grant Lifecycle Management system and Foundant CSuite system
• Monitor performance of grantees adherence to grant terms and conditions, including post grant evaluations, and archive grantee documents and correspondence
• Work with finance staff on grant payments
• Oversee state/federal regulatory conformance for 50l(c)(3) status, and assist with municipal, state and federal filings, including the annual audit and financial statements, and coordinate with related outside consultants and vendors
• Work with communications staff to build awareness of the Wiederhold Foundation in the media
• Attend conferences and meetings to maintain relationships with charitable giving community
• Research key factors of interest around funding priorities, and seek opportunities for the Wiederhold Foundation that enhance collaboration with other funding organizations and advance the philanthropic efficacy of the Wiederhold Foundation
• Other duties assigned by Wiederhold Foundation Trustees or NCCF staff
Scholarship Responsibilities:
• Communicate as-needed with the Scholarship Committee
• In coordination with communications staff, assist with the preparation and dissemination of scholarship offerings, e.g. eblasts, press releases, information packets to local high schools
• Provide counsel and assistance to scholarship applicants, and manage all inquiries regarding scholarship funding
• Process scholarship applications with the Scholarship Lifecycle Management system and Foundant CSuite system
• Communicate with scholarship recipients
• Act as the NCCF liaison to high school guidance officers
Additional Responsibilities:
• Assist with special program offerings, such as NCCF’s crowdfunding initiative, Northwest Corner Gives, and nonprofit workshops and conferences
• Responsibly fulfill additional duties as assigned
