Barkhamsted

In 2023, grants from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund supported the Barkhamsted Historical Society’s Merrill Tavern and Barkhamsted Center Schoolhouse preservation projects and assisted First Congregational Church of Barkhamsted in the cost of exterior painting of the church, including belfry and window shutters.

In 2022, through a grant from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Elson-Slemmer Fund for the Environment, The Friends of the American Legion and People's State Forest purchased lumber to finish rerouting the Agnes Bowen Trail.

In 2021, the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund provided a grant to aid in the repair of the roof of Squire's Tavern, a historic building that serves as a museum and the Barkhamsted Historical Society headquarters, and provided a grant to the First Congregational Church of Barkhamsted to support the cost of repairs in order to reopen the basement level community meeting hall for public use.

50+ Years, Enriching the Quality of Life

NCCF transforms lives and strengthens communities in Northwest Connecticut by connecting donors who care with causes that matter.

NCCF has granted more than $50 million to area non-profits and scholarship recipients, making a meaningful difference for the homeless and hungry, for our libraries, our schools, our churches, and our environment.
